One Million Lights Philippines (OML PH) is a nationally awarded, youth-led, non-profit organization that improves the quality of life of Filipinos by providing clean, safe, and accessible solar-powered lights to impoverished,
off-grid communities and disaster-strikes areas around the country.
In 2010, three high school students came together with the idea of bringing solar technology to communities that were untouched by the modern world. In
2011, they lit up Brgy. Dugui Too in Virac, Catanduanes with 250 solar-powered flashlights. We have not stopped since.
Today, OML PH has lit up over 13,000 households in 33 of 81 provinces throughout the Philippines,
empowering the lives of over 70,000 Filipinos. It has amassed a volunteer base of over two hundred youth volunteers around the country and abroad who are hard at work as they ensure the sustainable growth of this
organization.
Our efforts have not gone unnoticed. In 2012, President Benigno S. Aquino gave us the Spirit of Edsa Award for “choosing to light up the lives of the less fortunate rather than being insensitive to the
darkness that surrounds them.” In the same year we were acknowledged as one of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations in the Philippines
